Carter Lasure died March 17, 2015 in Bardstown Kentucky. He is survived by his wife Dorinda, son Chris, daughter-in-law Meredith and grandson Sam.
Mr Lasure began coaching high school speech at Bethlehem High School in the fall of 1988. He also was in charge of the high school’s theater productions and lead many student trips to Europe during his time at the school. During his tenure Mr. Lasure coached his team to 16 consecutive regional speech championships.
He was a constant in Kentucky Speech for many years, served on the KHSSL Board of Directors and as the Louisville Regional Manager for many years until he retired from speech in the mid 2000s. He was inducted into the KHSSL Hall of Fame in 2004, and was loved by competitors and coaches across the state. He had numerous students who competed in college speech as well as students who went on to be coaches themselves.
Carter Lasure was a family man who loved the arts and loved giving students in his care an appreciation for them. His legacy is impossible to summarize in words, but his impact on the lives of his students is tangible and profound. Our thoughts are with his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. May they find some comfort in the thousands of lives made forever better by the man many knew simply as Lasure.
